home- pictures and report demonstration April 9 2005- July 9th international demo against Covance Munster, Germany Hartelust Heartless RC Hartelust BV has its seat in Tilburg at the Kapelmeesterlaan 112b in Tilburg, the Netherlands. RC Hartelust BV is one of the biggest traders in laboratory animals within the international vivisection industry. They trade all sorts of animals, like primates (macaques), dogs (beagles and crossbreeds), ferrets and cats. These animals are doomed to end up in vivisection laboratories. If the animals survive the stressfull period in stock-farms and transport they are awaiting a miserable future of suffering in cruel and useless tests. Most of the animals die during these tests or are killed afterwards for autopsy or destruction. The primates are imported from China. There are no animal welfare laws (concerning breeding, capturing and selling monkeys) in China. The monkeys are kept in miserable circumstances in huge "stock-farms". A lot of traders forge documents, so it looks like the monkeys are home breeds, but actually they are captured from the wild. This happens at a large scale in China. The monkeys are captured mainly in Birma and Vietnam. China is therefore very popular among dodgy scientists and traders. RC Hartelust BV is the only primate trader in Europe who trades with China National Scientific Export Co-operation. They supplie animals for; Bayer, The German Primate Centre (DPZ) and Statens Mediska Institut (SMI) in Sweden. The Biomedical Primate Research Centre (BPRC) in the Netherlands co-operates with RC Hartelust BV by testing their monkeys for HIV, Ebola and Hepatitus. In October 2000 RC Hartelust BV and Chairman dept. of Animal Science at the BPRC went for their annual trip to China to visit the primate stock houses. Besides the close connection between RC Hartelust BV and the BPRC, more connections are becoming clear between different big pharmaceutical laboratories, like Covance (Germany), Huntingdon Life Sciences (U.K.), TNO and BPRC (the Netherlands). This is just a tip of the iceberg of the cruel and corrupt world of the vivisection industry. The international vivisection industry has big interest in a trader like RC Hartelust BV, who supplies them with new vivisection victims. It's time to put an end to this. It's time to close RC Hartelust BV down. Each year more than 200 million animals are being used worldwide in cruel experiments. 33 animals per second die during or after these experiments. The Pharmaceutical industry is one of the biggest industries in the world. They can make a lot of profit by patent medicine. Because of the patent medicine, pharmaceutical companies are not willing to co-operate with other competitive companies. There's a big industry build up besides the pharmaceutical industry and other vivisection laboratories. It's the industry that builds laboratory cages, breeding cages, laboratory instruments and the import and export of animals. If vivisection doesn't exists anymore, this whole industry will collapse. Furthermore a lot of money has to be invested in humane science, which is not very interesting for the profit making companies. Economic interests are far more important than human- and animal health. The industrial is ed way of abusing animals has got to stop. Companies making profit by destroying nature, abusing animals and damage human health have got to be stopped. The argument vivisection industry always use: 'vivisection is necessary for human safety', is complete nonsense. More and more scientists declare openly that vivisection is cruel, misleading and completely useless. The Dr. Hadwen Trust proofs it is possible to create safe and humane science without the use of animals. They have lots of successes concerning brain damage and epilepsy. The fight against animal traders like RC Hartelust BV and the fight against the vivisection industry is a fight for animal liberation. This is part of the big fight for a world where everybody can be free. In this world is no room for sexism, fascism, homophobia, specisism and all other forms of intolerance. |
